Constellation Energy (CEG) Surges Nearly 5% As Nuclear Sector Rallies On Saudi Deal And Domestic Power Push

Constellation Energy (NASDAQ: CEG) stock climbed almost 5% on Wednesday, riding a broad wave of enthusiasm sweeping across nuclear energy stocks.

Two separate catalysts drove the rally, combining international diplomacy with a major domestic power generation initiative from the Trump administration.

The Trump administration announced it had signed a 30-year nuclear cooperation pact with Saudi Arabia, formalizing ties and positioning several U.S. energy companies for key roles in Middle Eastern build-outs.

While Constellation is not expected to be among the primary companies involved, its status as America’s largest nuclear fleet operator could earn it an advisory or training role.

Beyond the Saudi deal, the nuclear sector also gained momentum from reports of a new domestic government program targeting power plant construction within U.S. borders.

Bloomberg reported that the administration is planning to launch a $200 million program to support the construction of power plants, citing a document its reporters had seen.

A central goal of the initiative is to address the surging power demands of artificial intelligence-ready data centers, where nuclear energy’s clean output makes it an attractive solution.

The Bloomberg report named small modular reactor specialists Oklo and X-Energy as participants on the energy industry side, alongside tech sector partners Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA).

Constellation was not mentioned in the Bloomberg article, as the company operates full-scale nuclear facilities rather than the small modular reactors at the center of the new program.

Even without a direct role in the initiative, Constellation stands to benefit broadly from any top-down government effort to expand the nation’s overall power-generating capacity.

The Saudi nuclear cooperation deal also signals continued strong political will at the federal level to promote and support the nuclear power industry as a whole.

As the operator of the largest nuclear fleet in the United States, Constellation is well-positioned to capitalize on growing demand for reliable, carbon-free electricity generation.

The combination of international nuclear diplomacy and a fresh domestic spending commitment gave investors fresh reasons to bid up shares across the sector on Wednesday.

Nuclear power’s role in meeting AI infrastructure energy needs continues to draw increasing attention from both government policymakers and major technology companies worldwide.
