Recur Software has completed its acquisition of FLAGS Software, a quality management and production control software provider serving complex manufacturing environments worldwide.
The deal strengthens Recur’s footprint in the UK market and adds specialised shop-floor quality software to its growing manufacturing technology portfolio.
FLAGS Software, founded in 1989, has spent more than three decades serving manufacturers of complex, highly specified products across automotive, aerospace, rail, marine, and recreational vehicle sectors.
The platform has been deployed in production environments operated by major manufacturers including Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin, Bentley Motors, and Harley-Davidson (HOG).
FLAGS captures quality and production data at the point of build, creating a detailed digital history for each individual product as it moves through the production line.
Manufacturers rely on the platform to identify defects earlier in the production process and reduce the costs associated with rework and quality failures.
Following the acquisition, Recur plans to invest heavily in expanding the FLAGS platform, with a particular focus on developing advanced AI capabilities that help manufacturers anticipate quality issues before they occur.
“FLAGS sits at the intersection of quality and throughput, two of the most important priorities in manufacturing,” said Charlie Serota, Co-Founder of Recur Software.
Serota added that the platform “is trusted in some of the world’s most demanding production environments and captures valuable data at the point where products are actually built,” with Recur’s ambition being to make FLAGS “the intelligent quality layer for complex manufacturing.”
Alexander Thomson, incoming CEO of FLAGS, described the software as having “something rare: software that manufacturers depend on every shift, and a team that has kept it there for more than 30 years.”
Thomson confirmed that FLAGS will continue to operate from its Solihull base, with the existing team remaining in place to serve current customers throughout the transition and beyond.
He said the next phase is focused on “preserving that reliability while making the product more intelligent and bringing it to more manufacturers” across new sectors and international markets.
Recur Software positions itself as a long-term partner to industry-specific software businesses, with a strategy centred on product development and operational excellence to build category-leading platforms.
Headpoint Advisors acted as lead advisors on the transaction.
