Michigan Online Sports Betting Surges to $87 Million in November, FanDuel and MotorCity Lead the Way

Michigan’s online sports betting market reached a historic milestone in November, posting its highest-ever monthly gross revenue.

Sports betting alone generated $87.3 million during the month, surpassing all previous records.

The broader online gambling market also recorded strong year-on-year growth, according to state data.

Online Gambling Market Shows Continued Strength

Combined gross revenue from online sports betting and iGaming reached $335.7 million in November.

That figure represented an 18.1% increase compared to the same month last year.

However, it fell 4.7% short of October’s all-time high for the combined market.

Despite the slight month-on-month dip, overall performance remained robust.

Sports Betting Takes the Lead

While iGaming has been the main driver of growth in recent months, November marked a standout period for sports betting.

Gross sports betting revenue exceeded the previous record of $83 million set in January.

This surge was attributed to strong engagement and favourable betting outcomes for operators.

iGaming Performance Remains Solid

iGaming continued to deliver substantial revenue, with gross takings reaching $248.4 million.

That total was 9.9% higher than the same period last year.

However, it did not match October’s record-setting performance.

Still, iGaming remained the largest contributor to Michigan’s online gambling revenue.

Adjusted Revenue and Player Spend

After accounting for promotional spending, adjusted gross receipts reached $298 million.

This represented a 24% increase year-on-year.

Adjusted sports betting receipts surged by 74.7%, while iGaming adjusted receipts rose 14.7%.

Players wagered $631.1 million on online sports betting during November.

Market Leaders Hold Their Ground

FanDuel and MotorCity maintained their leadership position in sports betting.

The partnership generated $39.3 million in gross receipts and $28.2 million in adjusted receipts.

DraftKings, partnered with the Bay Mills Indian Community, ranked second.

BetMGM completed the top three operators for the month.

iGaming and Tax Contributions

FanDuel and MotorCity also led the iGaming sector with $71.8 million in gross receipts.

BetMGM followed closely, while Rush Street Interactive secured third place.

Total state taxes and payments reached $53 million for the month.

Detroit’s commercial casinos reported stable revenue, with MGM Grand Detroit retaining the largest market share.
