Light & Wonder (LNWO) Beats Q2 Earnings Estimates With Strong Per-Share Surprise

Light & Wonder (LNWO) posted quarterly earnings of $1.99 per share for the second quarter, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.75 per share by a notable margin.

The result marks a significant improvement compared to earnings of $1.58 per share reported during the same quarter one year ago, reflecting year-over-year momentum.

The quarterly performance represented an earnings surprise of +13.71%, a strong rebound after the company missed estimates in the prior quarter.

One quarter earlier, Light & Wonder was expected to deliver earnings of $1.57 per share but came in at $1.45, producing a negative surprise of -7.64%.

Across the last four quarters, the gaming company has managed to surpass consensus earnings per share estimates on three separate occasions.

On the revenue side, Light & Wonder posted $828 million for the quarter ended June 2026, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 2.18% and falling short of expectations.

That revenue figure still represents an improvement over the year-ago quarter, when the company recorded revenues of $809 million, showing modest top-line growth.

Despite the earnings beat, Light & Wonder shares have lost approximately 21.5% since the beginning of the year, underperforming the S&P 500’s gain of 11%.

The stock currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), suggesting shares are expected to perform in line with the broader market in the near term.

Looking ahead, the current consensus EPS estimate for the coming quarter stands at $2.15, with projected revenues of $873.5 million expected for that period.

For the full fiscal year, analysts are projecting earnings of $7.66 per share on revenues of approximately $3.47 billion, setting a meaningful performance benchmark for the company.

The broader industry backdrop adds another layer of caution, as the Gaming sector currently ranks in the bottom 25% of more than 250 Zacks-ranked industries.

Research consistently shows that the top 50% of Zacks-ranked industries outperform the bottom half by a factor of more than 2 to 1, a trend worth monitoring for LNWO investors.

Fellow gaming sector stock Flutter Entertainment (FLUT) has yet to report results for the quarter ended June 2026, with its earnings release expected on August 5.

Flutter Entertainment is projected to post quarterly earnings of $0.58 per share, representing a year-over-year change of -80.3%, while revenues are expected to reach $4.21 billion for the period.
