Getinge AB (GNGBY) Posts Strong Q3 Profit Surge As Margins Close In On Long-Term Targets

Getinge AB reported third-quarter adjusted EBITA of 1.28 billion Swedish crowns, roughly $129 million, beating company-compiled consensus of 1.19 billion crowns by a meaningful margin.

The Swedish medical equipment maker attributed the profit beat to a favorable product mix, disciplined pricing strategies, and sustained productivity improvements across its business units.

Adjusted EBITA margin expanded to 15.1% from 13.1% a year earlier, supported by 45 million crowns in tariff refunds and approximately 36 million crowns from currency tailwinds.

Excluding those two factors, the underlying margin still improved to a solid 14.3%, reflecting genuine operational progress rather than one-time windfalls alone.

Net sales totaled 8,446 million SEK, representing a 2.1% organic increase from 8,226 million SEK recorded in the same quarter a year earlier.

Order intake reached 8,781 million SEK, up 2.6% organically from 8,477 million SEK in Q3 2025, marking an eleventh consecutive quarter of order growth for the company.

Surgical Workflows contributed the strongest order growth at 4.5%, adding 187 million SEK, while the Acute Care Therapies unit added 126 million SEK to the overall intake figure.

Adjusted gross profit reached 4.34 billion crowns with a margin of 51.4%, a meaningful step up from the 49.2% gross margin recorded in the prior-year period.

Adjusted earnings per share came in at SEK 3.10, up from SEK 2.42 a year ago, while free cash flow surged to SEK 1,302 million from SEK 793 million previously.

The company received a refund in July of tariffs paid under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of about $36 million, a notable benefit given that Getinge manufactures more than 60% of its products in the United States.

Getinge described the quarter as a solid one, with demand remaining “stable and positive” across most categories, and recurring revenue still making up about two-thirds of total sales.

High-margin products now account for approximately 70% of sales, a shift in business mix that has materially supported the company’s expanding profitability profile over recent quarters.

Over the past two years, the rolling 12-month adjusted EBITA margin has risen from 12% to 15.6%, or 14.5% when excluding the benefit of tariff refunds received during the period.

CEO Mattias Perjos and CFO Agneta Palmér presented results showing the company is “steadily closing in” on its targeted EBITA margin range of 16% to 19% by the end of 2028.

Getinge confirmed its full-year forecast of organic sales growth between 3% and 5% for 2026, with year-to-date organic growth sitting at 2.5% heading into the final quarter.

Management expressed confidence that Q4 performance would push the company into the 3% to 5% annual organic growth range it has guided the market to expect.

Shares of Getinge rose 1.4% following the results, reflecting investor satisfaction with the margin progress and the company’s intact medium-term financial targets.
