Minerals Technologies (MTX) Cash Flow Surges 32%, Fueling Dividend Hike And A $200M Growth Bet

A dramatic jump in operating cash flow is reshaping the investment case for Minerals Technologies (MTX), a specialty minerals company that has quietly built serious financial momentum in 2026.

Through the first three quarters of this year, cash generated from operations climbed 32% to $171 million, a figure that comfortably outpaces most peers in the industrial materials sector.

Free cash flow reached $97 million over that same period, a result management described as significantly higher than where the company stood at this point last year.

That financial firepower gave the board confidence to reward shareholders directly, lifting the quarterly dividend by 8% to $0.13 per share.

The raise is modest in absolute terms but signals that leadership views the current earnings trajectory as durable rather than cyclical or one-time in nature.

Underlying the cash generation is a business that continues to grow at a steady clip, with third-quarter revenue hitting $555 million, representing 4% growth compared with the same period in 2025.

On a year-to-date basis, sales are up 6%, keeping Minerals Technologies firmly on course for the mid-single-digit full-year expansion the company has been targeting.

Beyond the near-term numbers, management is pointing investors toward a longer-range opportunity tied to two emerging technology platforms the company has been developing.

Proprietary processes for high-purity calcium production and the recovery of minerals from steel slag are together estimated to unlock more than $200 million in incremental revenue across the next five years.

Steel-slag mineral recovery in particular addresses a growing industrial need, as steelmakers worldwide face mounting pressure to reduce waste streams and extract residual value from byproducts.

The high-purity calcium technology opens a separate market lane, targeting applications in pharmaceuticals, food processing, and advanced manufacturing where material specifications are stringent.

Together, these platforms give MTX a credible growth narrative that extends well beyond its existing specialty minerals business and could materially change the company’s revenue profile by the end of the decade.

For investors, the combination of accelerating cash conversion, a rising dividend, and a defined pipeline of technology-driven revenue opportunities presents a layered thesis that goes beyond a simple income play.

Whether MTX can execute on the $200 million technology estimate while sustaining its current operational momentum will be the central question heading into 2027.
