Gen Digital Inc. (GEN), a cybersecurity solutions provider, reported stronger first-quarter earnings for fiscal 2027 and raised its full-year financial outlook.
Net income climbed to $215 million, or $0.36 per share, compared to $135 million, or $0.22 per share, in the same quarter a year earlier.
The year-over-year improvement signals continued momentum for the company as demand for cybersecurity products remains robust across consumer and enterprise segments.
Interest expense also declined notably, falling to $124 million from $156 million recorded in the prior-year period.
Excluding one-time items, adjusted net income came in at $431 million, or $0.60 per share, for the quarter.
Net revenues rose 6 percent to $1.336 billion, up from $1.257 billion in the same period last year.
Adjusted net revenues showed even stronger growth, climbing 11 percent to $1.336 billion compared to $1.208 billion in the prior year.
Looking ahead to the second quarter, Gen Digital expects adjusted revenue in the range of $1.325 billion to $1.350 billion, with adjusted earnings per share between $0.71 and $0.73.
For the full fiscal 2027 year, the company raised its adjusted revenue outlook to between $5.375 billion and $5.475 billion, up from prior guidance of $5.325 billion to $5.425 billion.
Adjusted earnings per share for the full year are now expected to land between $2.87 and $2.97, compared to the previous guidance range of $2.85 to $2.95.
The raised guidance reflects management’s confidence in the company’s ability to sustain growth across its cybersecurity product portfolio throughout the remainder of the fiscal year.
Gen Digital also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.125 per common share, payable on September 9 to shareholders of record as of the August 17 market close.
Shares of GEN rose 0.57 percent in after-hours trading to $28.26, following a 0.54 percent gain during the regular trading session on the same day on the Nasdaq.
