Home Depot (HD) Eyes $700 Billion Pro Market Opportunity Ahead Of August 18 Earnings Report

Home Depot (NYSE: HD) is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings on August 18, with Wall Street analysts watching closely for signs of sustained momentum.

Analysts are forecasting revenue of $47.2 billion for the quarter, representing approximately 4% growth compared to the same period last year.

Adjusted earnings per share are projected to reach $4.73, a modest improvement over last year’s figure of $4.68.

Beyond the near-term numbers, the most compelling case for buying the stock centers on Home Depot’s roughly $700 billion opportunity in the professional contractor market.

Home Depot has been methodically building a business serving professional contractors, a segment that is difficult for competitors to replicate at scale.

The company acquired Mingledorff’s, a move designed to expand its reach in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment across key markets.

Home Depot can unlock substantial value from that deal through its SRS distribution network, which already includes more than 1,300 branches nationwide.

Early data suggests the Pro strategy is gaining real traction, with Pro customers posting better comparable sales than do-it-yourself customers in the first quarter.

The Pro segment is widely expected to become an even stronger growth engine as the broader housing market gradually turns the corner and activity picks up.

Despite a challenging operating environment, Home Depot’s core business demonstrated resilience, with first-quarter sales rising 4.8% year over year.

A recent pullback in the share price has pushed the dividend yield above average, currently sitting at approximately 2.6%, offering income-focused investors an added incentive.

The combination of a growing Pro business, a recovering housing market tailwind, and an attractive dividend yield positions Home Depot as a stock worth serious consideration ahead of its upcoming earnings release.
